Sleepy Hollow
The Legend of Sleepy Hollow is one of our
first cultural pieces of folklore, given to us by writer Washington Irving. (Irving, whose
friends included Clement C. Moore, also gave us the first parts to the indelible image of
St. Nicholas, later expanded upon in Moores poem.) Children and adults alike revel
at the tale told around the Halloween season. Polar Lights has captured the spirit of the
legend by issuing a model kit for the Halloween season. The model shows the headless
horseman rearing his black horse high in the air bearing a sword in one hand and the head
of a poor, unfortunate soul in the other. The model is a polystyrene kit built in 1:8th
scale. It includes some optional parts for the right hand, including an axe, sword, or
jack-o-lantern. With attention to detail, the Polar Lights team has created its own legend
for generations to come. But beware if you hear the thundering clap of hooves
coming up behind you, take cover! The headless horseman is riding once again! Glue and
paint are required for assembly (not included).
