When Mars is attacked by alien invaders, the United Earth Government desperately orders the creation of a new kind of space battleship, the Nadesico. The Nadesico was dispatched to Mars and was almost at their destination when it was attacked and almost destroyed by the Jupiterians. Fate was on their side and they luckily escaped to Mars. On Mars, the rag tag crew of the Nadesico discovered Nergal's research facility and the legendary Yamato.
